Say hello to
Sam & Carol

Sam and Carol are a faithful, humble, and inspiring couple who have many years of experience in ministry.

After graduating from Bible School in Ambon in 1963, Sam traveled the islands of Indonesia, conducting large outdoor crusades and church meetings. He met Carol, who was the daughter of New Zealand missionaries, and in 1972 the couple was married.

They served at the Tawangmangu Bible college – an initiative established by Carol’s parents, Dal and Dorothy Walker. After teaching for many years at the Bible college, he later became the principal.

Sam and Carol are also the founders of Mount Hope, which is a kindergarten, school, and boarding school in Kalimantan. Their latest project is Mount Hope Christian University.

Sam and Carol share their time between Java, Kalimantan, and New Zealand. They have four children and seven grandchildren.

What we do…

Along with an excellent and faithful team, we oversee two training facilities in Tawangmangu, Java. The Bible College is where we train future pastors and leaders for Christian ministry. Alongside this, we also run a Christian University offering degrees in Theology, Education, Tourism and Hospitality, Business and Visual Communication Design.

Our other project is The Mount Hope School in Kalimantan with a roll of over 500 students from grade 1 up to junior high.
